“Philadelphia is the City of Brotherly Love. It’s one of the oldest cities in our country, founded in 1682, and home to an incredible amount of history. From the Liberty Bell to the Rocky Balboa statue, Philly is steeped in tradition.”
If you stop and ask random people what comes to their mind when they think of Philadelphia, you’re likely to get a variety of answers; The Eagles, the Liberty Bell, Benjamin Franklin, Rocky Balboa, or even Cheesesteaks…and they’d all be right. Whether you realize it or not, Philadelphia has slowly weaved its way into the fabric of American history.
Summer in Philadelphia is a great time to enjoy the city. You can take a picture with the Liberty Bell or run up the steps and pose with the Rocky Balboa statue; two tourist favorites. The waterfront has been revitalized in recent years and features a growing number of shops and activities. Or get a authentic Cheesesteak, from either Geno’s Steaks or Pat’s King of Steaks, and tour Independence Hall. Independence Hall is the very building where American as a nation officially began. It was in the Assembly Room that the Declaration of Independence was signed and the “American Experiment” began. A moment that would later prove as a turning point in the history of the world.
But it doesn’t have to be summer to enjoy yourself in Philly, there’s always something to do. You can stroll down and see the iconic LOVE sculpture or visit the museums on Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The museum of Art is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city.
